Self Portrait

I had no real plans today so I decided to do a self portrait and play around with Photoshop CS5.

I have been reading and watching a lot of videos on Photoshop in order to improve my work.  I wanted to play with Dodge and Burn, layers and adding in effects like rain.

Here are the results of my Sunday project, I hope you enjoy!!

The Globe and Mail

I was approached a couple of weeks ago by Gentech International, the company that supplies Sigma lenses to Canada.  All of the lenses that I use are Sigma lenses and I have been in contact with them for some time.  Gentech was looking for a sequence of photos to use in an ad promoting lenses that could be used for DSLR cameras capable of video.

When I heard that the ad was going to run in the Globe and Mail I was all in.  When you get a chance to have you work in the hands of 375,000 people you jump at the opportunity.

If you get the Globe and Mail the ad will be in the paper Saturday December 17, on the outside back cover of the sports section. 

Again a special thanks to David Topping at Gentech for reaching out to me for the images, and I am looking forward to maintaining a good relationship with Gentech and Sigma.

Another Images Used

I still get that cool feeling when I see an image of mine used in a magazine or a maunstream website.

I made the trip a couple of days in a row to Seaforth for a stop on the Canadian Tour.  The main reason for going was to get soe cool golf shots, but the tournament was also the closest stop for an up and coming Canadian Golfer, Adam Hadwin. 

The draw of a big name golfer and the fact that it was a short drive away made it an easy decision.  Little did I know that a shot of Adam would be used by SportsNet.

Happy Thanksgiving (Football Style)!!!!

This past Thursday was of course Thanksgiving for our friends to the south, and those who just love football.


If you have never been it is worth the trip sometime. Until you have the chance to get there, let me take you on my Thanksgiving Football Photo Tour.

1) When you arrive at the stadium you are greeted with a very nice panoramic opportunity:

2) Fans from every walk of life, some were Lions fans:

3) Some were Packers fans (BOOOOO!!!!):

4) Some were just....well Turkeys!

5) Now not everyone is going to have front row seats......but this is what warmups look like from the front row:

6) Of course there are downsides to front row seats..... Your future wife is VERY close to all the football players:

9) I didn't get a ball handed to me but I did get camera envy:

10) One weird side note about the NFL is that NFL Films still shoots in FILM!!!:

The SHOT!!!

I just got home from the Laurier Women's hockey game (that's right I am blogging at 10:30 at night).  The #3 ranked Golden Hawks hosted the #5 ranked Golden Gales in what turned out to be a one sided affair.

All the rankings aside, this game marked a HUGE moment for my photography.... in only my third trip out with the Net Camera I captured what I am considering the marque shot.  It has it all:

• The Goalie
• The Puck
• The Faces (and not just faces but EMOTION on the faces)

Simply Maria!!!

A while back I posted a photomerge of Roy Halladay on facebook (Roy Halladay) .I enjoyed creating that image so much that I decided to do another.  The decision to do another photomerge was an easy one, the hard part was picking what do do the merge of.  Then it hit me, what would be better than 4 Roy Halladays??  4 Maria Sharapovas!!.  So here it is, simple titled "Maria:

Hockey Time

Here in Ontario the hockey season marks the start of winter, and with winter here my focus will be on hockey. I thought I would share with you some shots from Saturday nights womens game between Laurier University and UOIT.  This game also marked the second game for the net camera. Jessica Larabie of UOIT was shell shocked but did quite well only giving up 3 goals.
